Hello my dear readers,
Karen On surpassed its first-year anniversary on March 7th, which was the date I posted my first film review, of Alice in Wonderland. Since then, I’ve posted many film reviews, concert and album reviews that have been featured on numerous fan sites, extensively covered this past awards season, and conducted exclusive interviews with the winner of So You Think You Can Dance season 7 Lauren Froderman and Chaska Potter of the indie band Raining Jane. I never thought I’d grow to be in love with blogging and accomplish so much with it as I have in the past year.
With all the free time I’ve been having since I graduated college, I’ve really been on a film kick, watching the latest mainstream releases, taking advantage of free movies for my second year volunteering at the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, using my Netflix membership, and catching up on the movies I’ve been wanting to see from my family’s ginormous DVD collection. There’s also a new music obsession with Ellie Goulding‘s U.S. album Lights. I’ve been meaning to write about these things and much more, but with my current job being busy lately, me trying to figure out my plans for the real world, and immersing myself in art at such a fast pace, it’s been impossible to accomplish anything here.
So instead of driving myself to madness, I’d figure I’d just let everything slide and take a break, at least for a week or two. I don’t know if I’d be interested in writing about any of the above-mentioned things after the hiatus. I do know that I plan on seeing a new film in theaters every week for the next few and that I’ll be attending (and volunteering) at WonderCon for the second year in a row, so I hope I can deliver something good and timely real soon. I know I haven’t been the most consistent blogger and that writing this wouldn’t matter much, but I had strong feelings about this so I wanted to let my readers know what was going on.
I could only be gone for a few days, who knows! If you see a new post from me, take it as a safe bet that I’m back, unless I note that I’m not. In the meantime, you can follow me on Twitter, where you can get some entertainment news and micro-reviews of films, music, and more (And lots of odds and ends about my life as me) 24/7.
I know my readership is small, but loyal, and I appreciate all of you very much. Thanks for your support and understanding.
