If you’re new to this blog and/or my life, you know that I’m a huge fan of Christopher Nolan and of his take on the Batman franchise (Hell, all of his movies), so every development on the casting in the last installment of the series shall be made here.
After over a year of speculation, Variety is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been locked to co-star in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises. Sources have told the publication that he will play “The Holiday Killer” Alberto Falcone, the son of Carmine Falcone. The elder Falcone was portrayed by Tom Wilkinson in 2005’s Batman Begins.
Gordon-Levitt, of course, was directed by Nolan in Inception. They will reunite with another Inception star, Tom Hardy, who will play the prisoner Bane in the upcoming Batman film.
Variety is also reporting that indie star Juno Temple is being eyed for a supporting role in the film, only listed as a “street-smart Gotham girl.”
Gordon-Levitt’s Falcone and Hardy’s Bane will join Anne Hathaway‘s Catwoman as adversaries to Christian Bale‘s Batman.
