Season 8 alum Lambert to school season 9 Idol contestants

For the first time ever, American Idol is bringing back one of its own to mentor their current season’s contestants – and one of its own happens to be someone from just the last season.

Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert will be the mentor for the contestants for the Tuesday, April 13th show (The theme is TBA) and will also appear for the next day’s results show to perform. But no, you won’t be seeing a repeat of last year’s controversial American Music Awards performance. Adam’s latest Tweet reads “Don’t worry America: I will be beyond family friendly. Relax and enjoy. For Your Entertainment.”

Lambert’s latest single “Whataya Want from Me” has been heating up radio airwaves and he was recently on a whirlwind world tour to promote his debut album For Your Entertainment.

This is definitely some great news to come out of this lackluster season. Adam is truly one of the most consummate performers to ever to come out of the American Idol franchise and he appears to have much experience beyond his 28 years. I’m interested to see how he’ll help and attempt to improve the performances of the season 9 finalists.

I still want to see Kelly Clarkson as a mentor though.
